Baked Ham & Mustard Buns

When you rock out a tray of these, at any occasion, you will instantly become a legend!

Hot buns crammed full of caramelized onion, ham, mustard, chilli jam and melting cheese topped with a bubbling topping of more melting cheese and mustard with a hit ofWorcestershire sauce for good measure. These are the bomb!

Serves 6-12

Filling

1 dozen soft white buns – supermarket variety are the best, bigger than a slider but smaller than a regular lunch bread roll is ideal

1 jar caramelized onion jam

300g shaved ham, julienned
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

6 tbsp wholegrain honeyed mustard

6 tbps chilli jam

Topping

2 eggs

¼ cup melted butter (you can use cream instead)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp salt

2 tsp dry English mustard

1 tbsp wholegrain honeyed mustard

1 cup grated cheddar

Preheat oven to 220 C. Line a roasting tray, big enough to hold the dozen buns snugly, with enough baking paper that it comes up the sides.

Cut a small amount from the top of each bun to flatten the tops slightly. Halve each bun and on the bottom half spread wholegrain mustard and onion jam. Top with a small handful of julienned ham, then the same amount of grated cheese. Butter the top bun with chilli jam and place on top of the cheese. Transfer the buns to the roasting pan so that they fit snugly.

In bowl, whisk together the filling ingredients, adding the grated cheese last. Spoon and pour the egg/cheese mix over each bun.

Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is bubbling and golden.

Serve warm and prepare to become a legend!
