I’ve just been asked to judge NZ Best Milkshake Competition by Anchor  -  See www.bestmilkshake.co.nz  - which has just opened for registrations and will again run throughout summer. Cafes, dairies and anyone else who offers milkshakes  register for the comp, then get their customers to vote through summer and I’ll be visiting the finalists (sampling milkshakes oh yay!) around the country at the end of summer.

It’s propelled me to dust off the blender and try a couple of my favourite combinations – I’ll share the recipe for my dreamy lime choc chip milkshake on Sat.

Be good if we can encourage listeners to think about letting their local café, dairy or summer hot spot that has the best milkshake in the land to enter the competition! 

LUSCIOUS LIME CHOC CHIP MILKSHAKE 

Makes 2 tall glasses

400mls cold milk

100mls cold cream

1 small handful mint, smacked 

Zest from one lime

2 tbsps dark cocoa 

1-2 tbsp caster sugar (to taste) or 1 scoop vanilla icecream

Whizz it all up until smooth, frothy and delicious – add more milk to get a good consistency! Garnish with choc chips, cocoa around the glass rim and topped with whipped cream if you feel like it!
