Members of the public are blatantly ignoring the dangers at Whangarei Falls.

Even the signs warning people the water is too polluted to swim in, have been stolen over the past few days.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Group Manager, Simon Weston says it's extremely dangerous water to dive into.

"We strenuously say that people shouldn't be engaging in that sort of activities and end up with people injuring themselves or even killing themselves."
