Newstalk ZB's 1080AM frequency is off-air each day between 7:30am and 6pm, and will be for several weeks while the southern transmission tower at Henderson is dismantled.
If you listen to us on 1080AM, you’ll need to make the switch to 89.4FM on your radio to stay with us during the day.
You can listen online using the free iHeart app on your phone, computer or smart speaker.
All your favourite shows, hosts and regular programming will continue as normal while the work is underway, and we’ll be back on 1080AM each evening as soon as the day's work is finished.
Why is 1080AM off-air?
The northern tower (which Newstalk ZB’s 1080AM frequency broadcasts from) at the Henderson AM transmission site has been dismantled, and a new transmission tower has been erected on the same site.
Now the work moves to the southern tower. While 1080AM doesn't broadcast from this tower, the transmitter needs to be turned off to allow work to continue safely.
I read that the transmission site is being sold?
The southern tower on Lincoln Road is being dismantled, however the site owner has made the decision to not replace this mast and sell the land.

I can’t get 89.4FM where I am?
If you can’t get Newstalk ZB Auckland on 89.4FM, you can still listen to us online via iHeart, or by asking your smart speaker to “play Newstalk ZB Auckland on iHeartRadio”.
