Dolly Parton has cancelled her Las Vegas residency because of ongoing health issues - but assured fans she’s working hard to get back on stage in her five-inch heels.

The 80-year-old country music icon was originally scheduled to perform six shows at Caesars Palace last December before postponing the dates to September 2026, the Guardian reported.

However, Parton announced on social media that she would be unable to perform as planned. In an Instagram video, the 9 to 5 singer said she’s still working on getting better.

“I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day now,” she said.

“It’s going to take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level,” she said, adding that the medicines she’s taking made her lightheaded.

“Of course, I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such, on five-inch heels, and you know that I’m going to be wearing them. Not to mention all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big personality,” she said.

Parton said her doctors were focused on strengthening her immune and digestive systems.

“They assure me that everything I have is treatable,” she said.

In a social media post last October, Parton admitted she did not take care of herself after her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died at the age of 82 on March 3 last year.

“I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of,” she said. “So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctors said ‘we need to take care of this’ and ‘we need to take care of that’. Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things.”

Parton said she needed to be closer to home because she was having “a few treatments here and there”.

Parton said she wanted to “put everybody’s mind at ease” and let fans know she’s okay.

“I know lately everybody thinks that I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” the country singer said in a video captioned “I ain’t dead yet!”
