A fire has broken out at a central Auckland hotel, with smoke billowing from the multi-storey building.
Multiple witnesses told the Herald the blaze is coming from the DoubleTree by Hilton on Albert St.
Photos from the scene show a large fire streaming out of a window of one of the top floors of the hotel.
Fire and Emergency were notified at 2.21pm, with three stations responding.
“Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews are currently responding to a fire at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Auckland,” a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said.
“We were first notified at 2.20pm.Multiple crews are in attendance with more on the way.
“We ask the public to avoid the area while emergency services responded.”
There are at least nine fire trucks at the scene, several marked and unmarked police cars and a St John ambulance presence.

The intersection of Aalbert st and Victoria St has been completely taped off by emergency services.
DoubleTree by Hilton is currently under construction and is set to open for guests at the end of February next year, according to its website.
