Lord of the Rings actor Bruce Hopkins is once again raising money for a charity close to his heart.

The 68-year-old will tomorrow make 68 somersaults from a six-metre platform in Wynyard Quarter -- which is being used for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series this weekend.

He's looking to add to the 30-thousand dollars he's already raised for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.

Hopkins told Tim Dower he feels for those grandparents who have no choice with their grandchildren.

He says there are about six-and-a-half-thousand grandparent families raising more than 16-thousand grandchildren, usually due to trauma.
