After eighteen months hosting the weekend afternoon show, Tim Wilson will be stepping down from The Weekend Collective at the end of this year.

Announcing the news yesterday alongside his long-time co-host Tim Roxborogh, Wilson said it was a simple decision.

"It's basically been a choice between work and family, and family wins," he said, noting that his oldest son, Roman, will be heading to school next year and wants his weekends to spend with him. 

Wilson will be sticking with Newstalk ZB, hosting the Sunday talkback slot from 8 to 11pm starting in February. 

Roxborogh said he will miss his co-host, but The Two Tims aren't entirely disbanding. Tim Beveridge will be joining as the new co-host from February next year.
