Jacki Weaver is an Australian acting legend with a career spanning back to the 1970s.
However, it wasn't until 2010 that Weaver launched into Hollywood and global stardom after her role in Animal Kingdom – which earned her an Oscar nomination at the age of 63.
Since then, Weaver has been one of Hollywood’s most prolific character actors, scoring her second nomination two years late for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.
Weaver is now starring in Penguin Bloom, it’s based on the book of the same name. It tells the true story of Sam Bloom, who was left paralysed after falling six metres while on a family holiday in Thailand, and found surprising comfort in a pet magpie.
Weaver joined Francesca Rudkin to discuss her role as Bloom's mother, as well as her astounding career.
