Brokenhearted All Blacks fans in North Canterbury's Kaiapoi have at least been able to nurse their sorrow, thanks to a delighted Englishman.

Head chef at the town's Jagz Bar and Restaurant, Greg Sweet, promised to shout the entire bar a drink if his team came through.

And the dogged England fan told Andrew Dickens he was true to his word.

"So everyone that was in here, I shouted the bar a drink, and we went out for a celebratory drink last night, so it was good."

And he's promising to do it again if the men in white lift the cup next weekend.
