Googling something on your phone may not seem like a big deal, but there is a lot of energy that goes into that information coming back to you. 

The Sunday Session's resident scientist Nicola Gaston is hosting a conference this week called MATERIALise, that looks into how nanotechnology can be better used to affect sustainability. 

She told Francesca Rudkin that all material on the planet is finite, and most products require some form of reusing and recycling.

Dr Gaston says the 'circular economy' could be better used to use more sustainable, long lasting products that create less waste.
