Simon Bridges has picked his Politician of the Year in his final interview of the year with The Country.
The National Party leader joined Jamie Mackay to talk his topsy-turvy year, that began with expectations that he would not make it to the end of 2019 as leader due to low popularity ratings.Â
While his personal popularity and favourability continues to trail behind Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Bridges says he feels more comfortable in his role and the stories about him being rolled seem to have disappeared.Â
He also discussed his party's social media strategy - "The worst stuff is generally my own" - and picks his best performing politicians of the year.
