Simon Bridges says he will not copy the actions of his rivals and sue Jami-Lee Ross.
The National Party leader told The Country’s Jamie Mackay that there are grounds for him taking action against the rogue MP over leaked recordings released last week.
However, Bridges says he is not interested in focusing on the past.
"I take the view in politics- it's the view Winston's never taken, by the way, and one or two others - that you sort of keep moving and you don't take a legalistic view of things."
Bridges also reiterated that he doesn't think he handled the saga wrongly, and told Mackay that he would do everything the same way again.
