The Prime Minister is brushing off suggestions her Government has put the brakes on farming.
Fieldays is underway in Hamilton, and Jacinda Ardern is spending three days rubbing shoulders with the rural community.
Her trip to Fieldays last year was cut short, as she was in the final stages of her pregnancy.
However, it was put to her by Jamie McKay that the mood this year was subdued due to the Government's policies around farming.
Ardern told that none of the indicators will show that. However, she says we're in a time of change and admits there are challenges but says we can work through them together.
"And I just had a meeting with some of our sector leaders, and we all feel really positive about what we can do to tackle that together. I hear that uncertainty, but I think as long as we're around the same table, that's the important thing."
Ardern says her Morrinsville upbringing has influenced her view on the country.
"When you grow up either on the land or around people who are on the land, you do understand we do want to hand down something better to the next generation."
