Jacinda Ardern is defending her Government's decision to open Auckland's border.

Epidemiologist Michael Baker continues to raise concerns the move may be unsafe.

Aucklanders are still advised not to leave the region if they're sick - and to not attend mass gatherings.

The Prime Minister The Country it's difficult to sustain regional border controls in Level Two.

"It was very tough on some of our primary producers. We were essentially requiring an exemption regime to let anyone in or out of Auckland."

Ardern is also confident that the Greens will make it back to Parliament.

Labour's coalition partner has faced controversy this week after co-leader James Shaw supported funding a privately owned school in Taranaki.

He has since apologised, but the incident continues to dominate headlines.

However, Ardern says she expects the Greens will poll higher than five per cent.

"I don't think the issue around an infrastructure project in New Plymouth that will create around 200 jobs, I don't see that having long term impacts on that vote."

She says that the minor parties always get more of a platform and airtime during the election campaign.
