Karel Sroubek has hit out at National for only releasing a part of a phone call with his ex-wife.

The National Party has claimed the call showed he was threatening her, but he disputes this and says the conversation has been taken out of context.

Sroubek says its not fair only a portion of the call has been released to the public and told MP Mark Mitchell the full recording should be released.

He also claims the people he sent to threaten his partner were actually friends.

Mark Mitchell told Mike Yardley they didn't release the whole recording because of the ex-partner.

"She doesn't want the whole tape out there, so they have just released some snapshots. The press gallery journalists have listened to the entire tape."

Sroubek has been at the centre of a political storm for two months after he was initially granted New Zealand residency, which has since been overturned.
