Timing is seen as key to any Government payout to all of us to help stimulate the economy.
The suggestion’s been made by Kiwibank chief economist Jarrod Kerr.
He says every New Zealander could be given $1500 to stimulate the economy.
Infometrics senior economist Brad Olsen says any payout would be most effective during alert level one.
He told Mike Hosking people would be less likely to spend the money right now.
"It needs to come through in a recovery phase, and the amount could be dictated by how much tax people paid over the past year."
