The Prime Minister delivered her speech to the United Nations this morning our time.

It was about globalism, multilateralism, climate change, Me Too must become We Too, a lot of feel good stuff, and a few digs at Trump

The media were so excited that the headlines were ‘Jacinda called out Trumpism’.

However, I think the Prime Minister did a glorious job.

She did a fantastic job of wiping out any free trade deal with the US – or anything to do with the US.

As the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said, “If you not with us, you’re against us, we will remember’.

That’s the sum of it. You don’t have to like it, but it is what it is.

Now, you don’t have to agree with him, but Trump is saying his goal is fair trade.

A month or two ago when he was at the G10 in Canada, he invited all the other nations there to do a deal to go to zero tariffs.  

It was well publicised, but not a murmur. They didn’t want to have a bar of it.

You may have missed this one as well. While the media and the Prime Minister are banging on about protectionism and isolationism and every other ism you can think of, Trump’s doing fair trade deals.

He’s doing one with Japan and South Korea, there’s a fair trade deal with the EU being negotiated, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is one with Canada and Mexico at some point.

He’s actually doing trade deals, he’s negotiating directly with each country.

I’ve always said he’s a bit of a blowhard, no question about that; ego as big as the Grand Canyon.

There is no denying that the US economy is on steroids right now.

You wouldn’t bet against him not getting his way on these trade tariffs either. You shouldn’t bet against him.
