Export volumes are expected to grow next year but global supply chain issues are predicted to get worse before they get better.
ASB’s Trade Disruptions Report says consumers will likely feel the effects of supply chain disruption well into next year.
NZ Herald Business Editor at Large Liam Dann told Heather du Plessis-Allan the report is a sign of times we’re going to have to keep track of what’s happening with shipping a lot more closely.
“It’s a combination of things. You’ve got obviously Covid shut down the world’s factories and things, they got turned off and on again and it was hard to turn them back on. You’ve had the shipping disruptions as ships moved medical supplies all around the world and all got thrown out of whack and that’s still backed up.”
