Is the worker shortage in the hospitality industry starting to affect the quality of our restaurants and bars?

Restaurant reviewer Jesse Mulligan writes in the Herald this week that staff shortages are starting to effect restaurants.

He says he recently ate at a new restaurant that was well off the pace, but he made the decision not to review it while the labour market is so tight.

Legendary food writer Lauraine Jacobs says definitely the worker shortage is real, but she doesn't think it's affected the dining quality yet.

“There’s some really good restaurants around, especially here in Auckland at the moment, they’ve all managed to find staff, they’re all working their little butts off, but they are doing a terrific job.”
