News company Stuff is joining hundreds of companies worldwide in a social media boycott.
Stuff is trialing a complete withdrawal from Facebook and Instagram over concerns the platform isn't doing enough to stop hate speech.
Powerhouse Digital Agency managing partner Murdoch Razmi told Tim Dower it's a risky move for a news outlet.
He says social media creates a platform where people can comment and share and make a story go viral.
Razmi says the trial could spark changes for other outlets.
“Stuff is fully committing to it, and they are literally saying they are going to try this out, It could be quite influential."
