Bold boycott moves against Facebook could create change.
News company Stuff is joining hundreds of global companies by stopping all content across Facebook and Instagram.
University of East Anglia media law lecturer Paul Bernal told Mike Yardley cutting their advertising spend is one thing, but this decision could change where the audience is.
"If a person sources their content outside of the Facebook platform, that could drastically hit their audience numbers."
Bernal says governments need to show accountability as well.
"When government officials use Facebook for their broadcasts, it creates dependence which the social media platform can rely on.
