A long standing flood plain dispute between the Waikato Regional Council and a Coromandel landowner has been resolved.
It has been alleged a Cooks Beach landowner illegally raised the ground level of their property and filled in some of the floodplain but the landowner has denied this.
The regional council says this in filling increased flooding for other residents.
Waikato Regional Council Coromandel Area Manager Emily O'Donnell says they considered taking the matter to court but decided to negotiate a resolution.
The regional council, Thames Coromandel District Council and the landowner will now split a $20,000 bill to for remedial work.
