Habitat for Humanity is calling for the Government to pay more attention to Northland's inadequate housing crisis.
It is estimated over 7,500 homes in Northland are substandard, however these statistics are seven years out of date.
Habitat for Humanity Executive Officer Conrad LaPointe says everyone is aware Northland has a major housing issue, although the magnitude of it is unknown.
"We feel that the problem is so great that a lot of Government agencies don't actually really want to find out what the true problem is because I think there'd be a complete outcry."
