The White Ferns have been bowled out for just 80 before England cruised to a seven wicket victory in the Twenty20 series decider in Hove.

New Zealand lost five wickets for four runs which derailed their innings - going from 29-1 to 33-6. Among those to fall were veterans Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine who went in the same Dani Gibson over.

Gibson finished with 3-14 and fellow spinner Charlie Dean took 3-13. Some late boundaries from Jess Kerr helped get the White Ferns to 80 with Izzy Gaze (17) and Maddy Green (14) the only other players to reach double figures.

In the chase, Nansi Patel got the early wicket of England opener Alice Capsey but the home side were never in trouble as they reached the target in the 14th over.

England have now won the last seven bilateral T20I series against the White Ferns.

“Losing wickets early, and losing wickets in [a] clump - you want to set the tone and get off to a good start but we haven’t been able to,” White Ferns captain Amelia Kerr said. “We bat deep but we haven’t given ourselves a chance.”

The two sides will meet again in pool play at next month’s Twenty20 World Cup in England.

The White Ferns open their Twenty20 World Cup defence in Southampton against the West Indies on June 13. They also have Ireland, Scotland and Sri Lanka in their group.

New Zealand will play warm-up gamers against Bangladesh and South Africa in the lead-up to the tournament.
