A win of sorts for activist Penny Bright in one of her long running battles with the Auckland Council.
The mayoral candidate petitioned Parliament, demanding an inquiry be held into the way Auckland Council's Council Controlled Organisations provide information to the public.
She argued more accountability is needed over their financial transactions and use of ratepayer money.
While Parliament's Local Government and Environment Committee isn't ordering an inquiry, it agrees ratepayers should be able to easily access information about how public money is spent.
It's supporting Ms Bright's plea for transparency and standardisation of information Auckland CCO's are providing to the public.
