It could be more than five years on from the 2011 Christchurch quakes before all red zoned buildings are cleared from the city.
The timeline for building removals is outlined in the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority's latest statement of intent.
It shows that all Crown-owned red zoned residential properties on flat land are due to be completely cleared by the end of this year.
But for red-zoned homes on the Port Hills the time frame for clearance is much longer.
They're not scheduled to be completely cleared until the end of June 2016.
