The Prime Minister hopes to go to the Pride Parade in Auckland early next year, despite the controversy surrounding it.

Supporters have been dropping out after the Parade's board banned police from participating in uniform.

Jacinda Ardern was careful with her words when asked about the controversy surrounding the event. 

"I do think the Pride parade is at its best when it is an inclusive event, its not a matter for me to determine how the parade is run and who participates in it."
