A person has died in a quad bike crash at a rural property south of Christchurch this morning.
Emergency services were called to a property on Old Tai Tapu Road around 6.30am.
One person was found dead at the scene.
The Herald understands a quad bike or four-wheeled farm bike was involved.
A Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager said two crews from Lincoln responded to the incident at around 6.30am.
They confirmed the incident did not occur on the road and referred all further inquiries to police.
The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene.
WorkSafe confirmed they had been notified of the incident and were working to determine if an investigation would be launched.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and wider community affected by this loss,” they said in a statement.
“We are making initial enquiries to understand the circumstances and determine whether an investigation is required.”
