One person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after an assault in Napier.

Police were called to reports of an assault at an address on Neal Cres in Onekawa about 2.45pm.

A police spokesperson said the alleged offender fled the scene immediately.

The victim made their way to an address on Wallis Pl.

Ambulance staff and police were then called to the Wallis Pl address because of the victim’s injuries.

One person was transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital by Hato Hone St John in a serious condition.
