Updated 2.19pm: Malaysian diplomat Muhammad Rizalman has been granted bail to a temporary address and will appear next Monday for another bail hearing when a more permanent address is likely to be put forward.

The 38-year-old has been held in custody since his arrival back in the country and court appearance on Saturday where he was charged with burglary and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.

The judge has today granted applications for media to take photos and footage of Rizalman during the hearing.

About half a dozen people, believed to be from the Malaysian High Commission, are in the public gallery.

His bail conditions include not travelling to the suburbs of Newtown or Berhampore or Cuba Street in the central city, and handing over his non-diplomatic passport.

Judge Arthur Tompkins ordered him not to contact any witnesses in the case.
