UPDATED 10.27AM: Police are hoping Waitarere locals can help them find Alex Fisher.

The search for the 10-year-old will resume this morning, who has been missing in the Waitarere Forest near Levin since early on Tuesday morning.

Twenty-five Defence Force personnel from Ohakea and Linton will join police staff and LandSAR volunteers - a total of around 65 searchers.

Police are asking locals to keep an eye out in their sheds and garages for the boy.

They’ve also released an image captured on CCTV of Alex, and his brother Eric taken at the Waitarere Four Square on Monday evening.

Yesterday, a man in his 20s appeared in the Levin District Court in relation to the boy’s disappearance, facing a charge of having a knife in a public place in the area Alex went missing.

Manawatu area commander Sarah Stewart maintains police are very concerned for the boy's welfare.

"The focus for us is on Alex, on finding Alex and that's why we have the huge amount of resource searching for him. We appreciate any and all support and information regarding the location of Alex," she said.
