Updated 3.53pm: An advertising executive, a former All Black and a Maori academic are among those picked on a 12 person panel to lead the consultation about a possible new flag.
The Government has announced the members of the Flag Consideration Panel.
It will be headed by deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Canterbury, Emeritus Professor John Burrows.
The other members include Saatchi & Saatchi's Nicky Bell, former Dunedin mayor Peter Chin, Xero's Rod Drury, former army chief Rhys Jones - and Sir Brian Lochore.
The panel was selected following nominations by a cross-party group of MPs and will hold its first meeting next month.
Its job is to oversee public engagement, invite possible flag designs and make a shortlist for the first postal referendum.
A referendum on the flag is expected to cost around $30 million and the public will be able to submit their ideas for a new flag from May.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is scathing about the process.
"Total waste of money, it's a sideshow, a detour, it's got nothing to do with our priorities as a party or as a country."
