Emergency services rushed to a report of a boat explosion in Tauranga, which left someone moderately injured.
A police spokesperson said the explosion happened about 1.35pm.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand told the Herald that two fire crews from Tauranga City and one from Mount Maunganui responded.
When crews arrived, the boat was not on fire, and they were not required to extinguish anything.
Fire and Emergency NZ said they assisted with removing the boat from the water because of concerns of oil on board that could have leaked into the water.
It’s understood that the explosion happened at a public boat ramp.
*An earlier version of this article, based on initial information provided to the Herald by emergency services, incorrectly stated that the explosion happened at Tauranga Marina. The article has since been updated.
