According to Seek, New Zealand salary earners have received minuscule pay increases.

The average annual salary in the year to June has risen by just 2.4 percent. With the average advertised salary now sitting at $74,965.

General Manager Janet Faulding attributed the drop to the slowing economy and decreased business confidence.

In a regional survey, Seek has also placed Wellington as New Zealand's top earners.

"Wellington had a 1.9% increase with an average salary higher than any other region in New Zealand at $80,000."

The national average salary was $76,000, inline with Auckland figures.

Wellington was followed by Canterbury on $72,000. Taranaki was the only decrease.
