Air New Zealand's taken out top honours for the second year in a row, named 2015 airline of the year by AirlineRatings.com.

The website says the national carrier is known for its financial performance, operational safety, in-flight innovations, and motivation of its staff.

Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas says Air New Zealand is an industry trend setter, and a textbook case of what an airline should be today.
