Ports of Auckland is being urged not to appeal a decision overturning its consents to extend Bledisloe Wharf.
The High Court has blocked the wharf extension because the public was not notified.
Auckland councillor Chris Darby says the council-owned port company should not waste its money appealing the right for public notification.
"I would be very perturbed if the legal counsel for the port company was angling to appeal this decision," he said.
The port is talking to its lawyers ahead of a board meeting on Thursday.
