I was asked this week to contribute to a collaboration post featuring the world’s best travel bloggers on our top money saving tips for travel.Â
Mine was to look at nearby airports. For example I flew into Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami last month and saved about $400 per ticket. We got an Uber to South Beach for about $40!
Plus, a tip I’ve added to my top cruise tips is for families to book a window/balcony room for the parents and an interior cabin across the hall for the kids. Huge savings on not buying adjoining rooms and with a baby monitor you can listen out if the kids need you and be there as quickly as you would at home.
Use websites that aggregate all airlines to choose the best flights - and be flexible if you can as better deals are often on weekdays and at odd times.
Collect loyalty points on everything! I shifted my credit cards when Air NZ stopped working with BNZ to ensure I get at least a couple of domestic flights a year.
Package holidays, especially now for last minute getaways, are actually really great deals!Â
