A collection of royal names have once again topped the list of rejected baby names.

The Department of Internal Affairs has released the list of all the names rejected in 2018.

While none were quite as extreme as 'Tallulah Does the Hula', the list was predominantly made up of royal-themed names.

The names King and Royal were both rejected six times, while Prince was rejected four times, and three parents apiece tried to name their children Royalty and Saint.

Names that resemble a rank or title aren't allowed, including different spellings such as 'Kiing' and 'Royality'.

Jeff Montgomery, the Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages, says parents who run foul of the rules are offered help.

"In some cases, we're able to find a way where the name can be approved. For example, the name can be used as a middle name."

One person was not allowed to name their child Allah, while three people tried to name their children after roman numerals.

43 names failed to make the cut, including Royale-Bubz, Kyro-King, Allah, and Princess-Dixie-Rose.
