The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver

First book in a new series by Jeffery Deaver – and less dark than some of his earlier books. Lead character is a guy called Colter Shaw who tracks down missing people so he can claim the rewards. But in this case what seems a simple investigation quickly thrusts him into the dark heart of America's tech hub and the cutthroat billion-dollar video-gaming industry.

The Farm by Joanne Ramos. Has been compared to The Handmaid’s Tale – it’s about a company which operate surrogacy farms and the women who carry babies for richer, usually whiter women – and what happens when one of the surrogates decides she’s had enough.
