An announcement on Fletcher Buildings future is set for today, after major losses on commercial construction contracts were announced earlier this year.

A new five-year plan will be announced in Sydney, with major change likely for the embattled business.

However, one expert believes Fletchers is still highly regarded.

Salt Funds Management managing director Matthew Goodson told Mike Hosking he doesn't believe their reputation has been damaged at all.

"A year or two of good outcomes and those commercial construction losses will be put behind them and they have certainly had major issues in that division in the past and if you go back over the last decade or two it is something they have recovered from."
