Queensland MP Billy Gordon is resisting the premier's calls to immediately quit parliament and will dispute domestic violence allegations levelled against him.
Mr Gordon was forced to quit the Labor party after the allegations surfaced, and he also failed to disclose his criminal history to the premier.
The crisis has put the new Labor government at risk of losing power, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk demanding Mr Gordon quit parliament and allow a by-election in his seat of Cook.
Without Mr Gordon, Labor only holds power with the support of independent Speaker Peter Wellington.
