Jacinda Ardern will be entering into rarely charted territory in June, when she becomes just the second leader to give birth while in office.
However, it appears most people believe it won't affect her job at all.
A Colmar Brunton for One News on the subject asked the public whether having a newborn would affect her ability to carry out the duties of Prime Minister.
59 per cent said no, it wouldn't affect her job.
18 per cent thought that it would adversely affect her, while 15 per cent believed she would actually do a better job as a result.
Ardern will be taking at least six weeks off after the birth, barring any complications.
Winston Peters will serve as acting Prime Minister.
