Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral will be keeping it's doors open, despite a recent theft.
Footage from the Cathedral's security system shows a man wrenching open a secure donation box to remove the money after a service.
The same day, computer hardware and chalices used for communion, were also taken.
Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore said they also attempted to come back a second time and break into their offices.
She said locks and keys are part of life, but it would be hoped that a church could be a place which is respected and open.
But she said they don't want to close their doors, and instead will be upping security.
The Cathedral has released security footage of the man in the hope of identifying him.
