One small step for man, one giant leap for coffee makers across the globe. 

The first Italian woman in space, Samantha Cristoforetti, has also become the first barista in space. 

Along with a snap of her out of this world creation, she beamed the groundbreaking news to earth via Twitter. 

The Italian astronaut has coped five months without a coffee. She was rewarded when a new espresso machine was delivered to the International Space Station last week. 

However, the drop off wasn't all for the love of caffeine. Those in the ISS are carrying out research for NASA, who are looking at how hot liquids react under high pressure in weightless environments.
