The 18-year-old has been pipped by One Direction for favourite pop rock album.

They also won artist of the year.

Lorde was also beaten by Katy Perry for favourite pop rock female artist.

Katy Perry took single of the year with Dark Horse.

Despite no wins today, she has scooped up plenty of trophies at awards shows in the past 12 months.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea revelled in her wins over veterans Eminem and Drake for favourite rap/hip-hop album and for favourite rap/hip-hop artist.
