As the final week of the extraordinary American Presidential election roadshow draws to a close the punter can rightly feel punch drunk.

Hillary Clinton’s hubby Bill Clinton probably best summed it up when he told a crowd they’re not going to get there if they chose anger over answers but in realty there’s not much hope of getting many of those, answers that is.

Donald Trump’s into a bit of self psycho analysis, talking to himself on stage about staying cool, staying on message and not indulging in sideshows which for him would seem to be asking the impossible. He immediately went on to say he’s been watching Hillary and she has become totally unhinged.

Punters are being delivered a daily diet on television of loyalists from either side indulging in cat and dog fights, arguing over which candidate is the most morally sound.

Then when they do get some relief from the programme, they’re bombarded with attack ads with each candidate using the other, blowing away that old political maxim that it’s better to ignore your enemy. It’s too late for that.

Donald Trump’s views on women, as expressed by him, are being used by the Democrats along with his view that he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and he wouldn’t lose any vote while Hillary Clinton’s being used by the Republicans defending the Clinton Foundation which is being investigated by the FBI.

Clinton’s campaign spend in the final days of the race for the White House is said to be four times that of Trumps. And as the polls close, she’ll need every dime if that’s what it takes to win.

This race has divided the nation. No longer is it safe to wear a Trump T shirt in public and you’re likely to be turned away from a restaurant for bad taste if you try and wear one there.

A Staten Island artist and Trump supporter discovered how deep feelings are running when he erected a giant stars and stripes T on his front lawn. It was burnt down, so be built a bigger one.

There’s now a prediction that another WikiLeaks release over the next few days will make Hillary Clinton unelectable.

Surely it can’t get any worse in this race to the bottom!
