Last night SkyCity celebrated New Year’s Eve with a spectacular display of fireworks from Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower.
The fireworks event went for more than five minutes and featured thousands of different fireworks including star mines, comets, Roman candles and multi shots. There was a total of 800kg of equipment and fireworks involved in putting on the display.
Some 40,000 people were estimated to be at SkyCity for New Year’s Eve, with hundreds of thousands across Auckland watching the fireworks from numerous vantage points across the city.
