Student awarded nearly $10k after being fired from supermarket for not hiding blue hair

Annelisa Lummis has been awarded almost $10,000 after she was fired from the Stokes Valley New World in Wellington, for refusing to wear a hat to hide her blue hair.

However the owners of the supermarket said the problem was the worker's failure to meet reasonable requests rather than the colour of her hair.
