Nick Mills: We need to know exactly what's happening with the coalition talks, and now

I was driving home from work late yesterday afternoon listening to Heather du Plessis-Allan, and I started feeling slightly aggravated.

No, more than slightly aggravated, I felt a little bit angry.

I thought to myself, New Zealand has voted overwhelmingly for change.

We thought we were voting for a government led by a businessman, that would make decisions, like a businessman.

Yes, Christopher Luxon is a politician, but his history is running businesses.

Big businesses too, that I am sure some of us would have liked.

He's no doubt comfortable making decisions that would have huge ramifications, come at huge cost, and need to be made very quickly.

And I was thinking about John who called the show, and asked me why we were not talking about the new government.

John was right.

Why are we just sitting back and waiting?

And don't tell me it's only been a few days since last Friday when the final results came out.

Tomorrow it will be a month, and we are all sitting back saying nothing, waiting.

Remember the term is only 36 months, and we've already lost one.

Still we wait.

We voted for change and yet we've got the same.

I don't always get it right, but I really felt Christopher Luxon would have this one sorted, even though he was going up against one of the wisest and experienced heads in New Zealand politics, Winston Peters.

A smart businessman would have used those three weeks to have plan A, plan B and plan C sorted.

And I feel those who voted for change and voted for a positive future.

You've been let down.

Okay, we might find out today that the coalition has been sorted, but I doubt it.

I've had enough.

I don't want to wait anymore.

I don't want to sit in the background, waiting for the three leaders to come to some kind of compromise.

I want to be treated like I matter.

I want Christopher Luxon on a daily basis to let us, the people in New Zealand know, exactly what's happening in the conversations.

We need to know exactly what's happening with the coalition talks, and now.

I'm sick of it.

I'm sick of these silly games where everybody is playing hide and seek with cameras following their every move.

At the very least, put the stop watch on and give us a end date.

Stop treating us like we don’t matter.

We want to know, and we want to get on with making New Zealand great again.

The majority voted for that.
